DONETSK HOUSING

The outcome of this initiative comprises a series of portraits depicting individuals displaced from Donetsk, Luhansk, and Crimea, who have embarked on the challenging journey of rebuilding their lives in different regions of Ukraine. These portraits are juxtaposed with images capturing their new realities, symbolizing themes of resilience, renewal, and new beginnings. Yet, underlying these narratives are tales of violence, abrupt disruptions, and the profound impact of conflict, leaving indelible scars and a sense of resignation.

In addition to the visual storytelling, Food of War artists Omar Castañeda and Quintina Valero facilitated workshops on painting and photography. These sessions provided participants with a creative outlet to express their innermost feelings and emotions, offering them a platform to share their experiences in a profound and cathartic manner.
