In December 2023, Food of War carried out its first ever Edible Graffiti at Barrio Tokio in Pereira, Colombia.
By engaging with the majority Afro-Caribbean community leaders and representatives, a visual and gastronomical proposal was carried out depicting the offering hands of Doña Pascualina, an important matriarchal figure in the neighborhood known for her charitable work and empathy. The food given by her hands was designed to showcase influences of ancestral pacific cuisine with the influence of the “eje-cafetero” , the region of Colombia where Pereira is located.
Residents of Barrio Tokio enjoyed an afternoon and evening of communion, delicious food and thought provoking discussions.
